This spiral head is known as a crozier or fiddlehead. The look of the fern’s head resembles a shepherd’s crook or the end of a violin. These fern heads are high in antioxidants and is a wonderful vegetable for any meal.
Along Bellbird Walk, these unique plants are found near Lake Rotoiti. This beautiful mountain lake surrounds the Nelson Lakes National Park.
