In Big Tub Harbour’s clear blue green waters reveals the shipwreck of the ship the Sweepstakes. This schooner is easily seen in the water depth of 20 feet and the hull remains wonderfully intact.
The foreground shows the bow of the ship and the amazing details are still easily seen.
In August of 1885, the schooner was damaged off of Cove Island and was later moved to the Big Tub Harbour. It sank a month later because repairs were not done in time.
The shoreline shows a beach area lined with trees. Homes sit nestled in the trees and boats line up along the shoreline.
