Joe Wilson, born in 1966, is affiliated with the Kwakwaka'wakw Hak'wesagame' tribe, a descendant of the Namgis First Nation, and a grandson of Chief Alvin Edgar Alfred. Joe began carving at the age of 21 after being exposed to the works of master carver Willie Seaweed. Recently Joe headed a large project in the Netherlands, the Dolfinarium Harderwijk. The project consisted of a Kwakwaka'wakw village which encompassed the legend of the Undersea Kingdom.
