These large Elephant Rock formations sit throughout the Waitaki Valley. The smooth green valley is a carpet for the large gray rocks.

The large rocks are in different shapes and sizes. These boulders are weather worn with many crevices and sharp edges. Adding to the roughness is their coloring in different shades of gray, some with white and brown.

The rock in the right of the foreground looks like it has a round handle on the top.

Just beyond the rocks, trees sit among the rolling green hills. Further in the background, mountains can be seen in the hazy mist. The sky’s clouds sit low on the horizon.
