Couple walking along the beach at Cox Bay near Tofino during sunset, a transition area of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, West Coast, Pacific Ocean, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The Cox Bay beach area is fronting open ocean waters, with no immediate offshore islands breaking the impact of the incoming waves... so, waves can be large with a strong under-tow. It is a safe guess that Cox Bay is a popular beach for surfers and bogey boards because of the large waves. Cox Bay is a smaller sandy beach that is accessed only from a short walking trail or by a kayak. The trail starts from a parking lot at a resort, just north of the Pacific Rim Park. The trail leads you through a forested area before heading down to the sandy beach of Cox Bay.
