This stock photo includes a scene of the stormy waves of the Pacific Ocean at the beach in Cox Bay near Tofino with the Lennard Island Lighthouse in the background, a transition area of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, West Coast, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The Cox Bay beach area is fronting open ocean waters, with no immediate offshore islands breaking the impact of the incoming waves so waves can be large with a strong under-tow. It is a safe guess that Cox Bay is a popular beach for surfers and bogey boards because of the large waves. Because Cox Bay does not get all the hoopla as some of the other more popular sandy beaches in the Pacific Rim area receive - it tends to be a quieter beach with less people. Except when events are held like Surf Jam, then the beach is very busy. But normally Cox Bay does draw people wishing to relax and read a book or take the family out for a day of beach combing without all the distractions of other people being around.
